I hate bullying, don’t you? When you’re bullied it can make you feel inferior, not important, and depressed. Being bullied is painful, hurtful, and it can stop our growth. It takes courage to stand up to a bully and say, “STOP!” Yet, so many of us rather be bullied than be courageous. It’s not that we like being bullied, but it’s easier to just accept our plight than to fight back.
There is one bully in particular who most likely comes against every single one of us. Quite frankly, this bully may be the toughest one of them all. This bully knows our weaknesses like the back of his hand and knows how to push our buttons. We let this bully say anything to us and do anything to us. Only a few of us are willing to face the bully, yet every single person that faces this bully overcomes his tactics.
The bully I’m referring to is…FEAR!
Yes, FEAR! Fear has crippled and demobilized so many people. It has been a murderer of dreams, a toxin to hope and a cancer to success. Fear is guaranteed to rear its ugly head in everyone’s life, but not many people are willing to face fear. It takes courage to face fear. Having courage is difficult and can be considered dangerous at times, but it’s necessary. You can’t live a successful life and fear FEAR.
You have to choose not to give in and move forward courageously. Fear and courage cannot occupy your mind at the same time; either you’re going to be courageous or you’re going to be fearful. One is going to dominate.
Life is too short to let fear make decisions for you. Do not allow fear to bully you and hold you back. Stand up, acknowledge your fear and watch its power over you diminish.
When fear shows up, talk back to it. Let it know that God hasn’t given you the spirit of fear. Let it know that you are more than a conqueror. Tell your fear that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Declare that you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you.
